WASHINGTON — Police in Montgomery County are investigating reports of shots fired near a mall Friday.
It happened just after 7 p.m. at Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda.
Police said they found shell casings and parked vehicles that had been struck by bullets in the parking lot of the mall. There were no reported victims.
Police said that there was an argument between two groups of men, consisting of two men each, that started at the mall and continued to the parking area. The men fled the scene.
On Saturday, detectives said they believe the shooting was not a random event and only involved the men engaged in the argument before the shooting.
