WASHINGTON — Washington College on Maryland’s Eastern Shore will remain closed until at least Thanksgiving because of an ongoing gun threat.
Washington College President Sheila Bair said Wednesday that the college located in Chestertown, Maryland, will reopen on Nov. 29 with classes starting the next day.
On Tuesday, the college announced it would be closed until further notice. After speaking with law enforcement about the developing situation of missing student, Jacob Marberger — who is wanted and reportedly could be carrying a gun — school President Sheila Bair decided to close the school out of caution.
Bair says that there have been no threats made against the school or its students.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Marberger as state and federal law enforcement conduct a high-intensity search.
