WASHINGTON — Nearly 30,000 runners and many spectators came out on Sunday, Oct. 30 for the 41st Marine Corps Marathon.

The race brought many road closures compounded by the 10th ongoing Metro track work surge that began Saturday.

WTOP has chronicled many stories of runners leading up to the marathon — from a mother running to fulfill a fallen son’s dream, to a man who struggled with body image and weight issues, to a veteran battling a brain tumor, and many more.

Here are photos from runners, spectators, WTOP reporters and The Associated Press.
