WASHINGTON — A White House official says a plan is being discussed to replace Secretary of State Tillerson with CIA Director Mike Pompeo.
Senior administration officials tell the New York Times that Trump has soured on Tillerson and is looking to make the change.
White House Chief of Staff John Kelly has told other officials the transition would likely happen by the end of the year.
The New York Times also reports another part of the proposed move would see Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., take Pompeo’s place at the CIA.
