Police ID 2 bodies found in McLean home

ARLINGTON, Va. — Two women were found dead inside a McLean home Friday afternoon in what police are describing as a murder-suicide.

Fairfax County police said they got a call at around 2 p.m. stating someone in a home in the 6700 block of Dean Drive may have been killed.

Officers tried to contact anyone who may have been inside the house.

When that failed, they went to the house and found the bodies of Helen Lorena Hargan, 23, and her mother, Pamela Denise Hansen Hargan, 63.

Police said it appears as though the daughter shot her mother and then killed herself.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will do an autopsy Saturday to determine an official cause of death for both women.

Police said a 7-year-old girl lived in the house with them, but she was not home when the shooting happened. She is currently safe with her mother, officials said.

Here is a map where the incident occurred, according to police.
