Joe Biden races ’67 Corvette Stingray with Jay Leno (Video)

WASHINGTON —Who would’ve thought a vice president would be ripping burnouts and racing his 1967 Corvette Stingray convertible with a former late-night talk show host in the passenger seat? Especially when vice presidents aren’t allowed to drive.

In a teaser for an upcoming episode of the show, “Jay Leno’s Garage,” Vice President Joe Biden was given the keys to his slick green convertible — the third time in seven years.

“Secret service doesn’t let me [drive],” he says to Leno, grinning broadly at the sight of his car. It turns out, vice presidents aren’t allowed to drive during the time they are in office, and for six months following their term.

Biden tells Leno he got the vehicle as a wedding gift from his father, who owned a Chevrolet dealership at the time.

“I’ve always loved to drive,” he says. “I shouldn’t say it on TV … I like speed.”

He says he “buried” the Stingray when he was younger, putting the pedal to the metal at speeds of 150-plus mph.

Biden’s inner daredevil resurfaces once he and Leno are on the road, racing a 2015 Corvette Stingray that pulls up behind them.

“The question is, can he drive?” Biden asks, gunning the engine.
