Teen boy struck by bus near MLK Jr. memorial dies, police say

WASHINGTON — The teenage boy who was struck by a tour bus near the Tidal Basin almost a week ago has died Thursday, U.S. Park Police said.

The bus had been traveling on Independence Avenue Southwest — toward the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial — when the accident occurred on March 9. The 14-year-old was trapped under the bus after he was hit.

He was taken to Children’s Hospital in D.C. where he died Thursday evening.
