Former teacher at DC charter school charged with sex abuse after fleeing US

WASHINGTON — A former teacher at a D.C. charter school was arrested Friday after the victim reported being sexually abused by him from 2011 to 2013.

Robert Leach, a 33-year-old from Silver Spring, Maryland, is being charged with first degree sexual abuse of a child.

The victim reported the abuse in 2014.

Leach fled the country and was eventually detained in England, where he was extradited back to the U.S. to face charges.

The abuse happened at various locations in D.C., police said.
