WASHINGTON — Wish fashion had more bark than Blue Steel? Rescue dogs join models in designer couture on the runway in D.C. for an annual charity fashion show Saturday.
“If there’s a dog in an outfit, you can count on me being there. It’s like: Dogs in bow ties? Yes! Bring it on,” said TV personality Carson Kressley, who is the master of ceremonies for the 11th annual Fashion for Paws Runway Show.
A fundraiser for the Humane Rescue Alliance, money raised by the event goes directly to programs that include rescue and adoption, humane law enforcement, low-cost veterinary care, spay-neuter services and others.
“It’s fun, it’s lighthearted and, hopefully, heartwarming, and inspires people to help with animal rescue or even adopt a pet,” Kressley said.
Many of the rescued dogs walking the fashion runway will be available for adoption.

This year’s show starts 8 p.m. Saturday at the Grand Hyatt Washington, at 1000 H Street in Northwest.
Online ticket sales are closed, but a limited amount of general admission tickets will be available at the door $100.
The Humane Rescue Alliance has protected and served animals in the D.C. area for more than 145 years.
