Name the eaglets at the National Arboretum

WASHINGTON — For the second year in a row, there’s a new pair of eaglets in a nest at the National Arboretum, and once again the folks behind the D.C. Eagle Cam are asking the public’s help in giving them proper names.

The American Eagle Foundation announced on Wednesday that voting has begun to name the new baby eagles, which have been going by DC4 and DC5 since they hatched late last month. (Actually, pretty cool-sounding names themselves, but anyway …)

The first stage of the campaign happens on social media: Post your choices for names on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter using the hashtags #NameTheNestlings and #DCEagleCam up until April 18. You also need to go to the Eagle Cam website and sign in — that’ll get you an emailed link to the ballot for the finals, which begin April 24 and last a week. The winning names will be announced early next month.

If you don’t use social media, or your accounts are private, you can enter your choices on the Eagle Cam website.

Last year’s eaglets were named Freedom and Liberty after a similar campaign, so let’s come up with something different. And the folks running the Eagle Cam are allowing websites to put the cam directly on their sites, so have some inspiration:
