DC Catholic school cancels classes after odor complaints

WASHINGTON — Classes at St. Augustine Catholic School in Northwest have been canceled Tuesday after complaints of a strange odor at the school.

Ed McFadden, secretary of communications for the Archdiocese of Washington, told WTOP school was canceled as a precaution as the odor is investigated.

D.C. Fire and EMS ruled out a gas leak.

Three adults complained of headaches and were taken to the hospital as a precaution. One child was treated at the scene.

As a precaution, the school moved the students, who range from pre-kindergarteners to eighth graders, to the church when the strong odor was reported.
