WASHINGTON — A portion of Minnesota Avenue Southeast between East Capitol and B streets is closed due to a water main break, NBC Washington reports.
Some 30 homes and nine apartment buildings are without water after an 8-inch water main broke Saturday night around 8 p.m.
Tanya Hedgepeth of D.C. Water told NBC Washington that the water line broke between Ridge Road and B Street Southeast and repairs are delayed because the break is near a large tree.
Urban Forestry Administration is on the way to remove the tree.
D.C. water did not indicate an exact timetable for when the water will be restored but said that it will not be till later this afternoon.
Officials do not have a cause as to why the line broke.
