WASHINGTON — DC Water crews are on the scene of a water main break in the 2500 block of Calvert Street in Northwest.
Crews had trouble finding the valve to shut off the 12-inch water line because of the snow and not being able to locate a fire hydrant, Will Tickering, spokesman for DC Water.
They were finally able to locate the valve and shut off the water at 10:40 a.m. The break occurred around midnight.
Initially, DC Water said it would take six to eight hours to repair, but now the agency says it should be an easy fix and gave no time frame for the repairs.
It is not known how many customers are affected.
Part of the street looks like a virtual river.
