PAC linked to D.C. mayor shut down

WASHINGTON — FreshPAC, the well-funded political action committee linked to D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser, is shutting down, The Associated Press reports.

The political action committee was created by Bowser’s allies to help advance the mayor’s agenda. But the more than $300,000 raised by the political action committee raised was garned by exploiting a loophole in the District’s campaign finance laws, The Associated Press reports.

FreshPAC secretary Ben Soto has since said that the political action committee had become a “distraction,” the reason he’s shut it down.

Meanwhile, Bowser is on a trip to China with two business leaders who donated $10,000 to FreshPAC.
