WASHINGTON — The north side of the White House was lit up in rainbow colors Friday night, commemorating that day’s U.S. Supreme Court ruling that made gay marriage legal in all 50 states.
Red, yellow, violet, blue and green lights covered the White House entryway, which could be seen by onlookers at the fence outside.
“Tonight, the White House was lit to demonstrate our unwavering commitment to progress and equality, here in America and around the world,” a White House official said in a statement. “The pride colors reflect the diversity of the LGBT community, and tonight, these colors celebrate a new chapter in the history of American civil rights.”
