Metro suspends some Orange, Blue, Silver line service

WASHINGTON — Two separate smoke incidents has caused Metro to suspend some service on the Orange, Blue and Silver lines.

In one instance, rail service has been suspended between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Cemetery, as well as Foggy Bottom and Clarendon, affecting the Orange, Blue and Silver lines. Buses have been requested to shuttle passengers.

Metro spokesman Dan Stessel tells WTOP there are no injuries, and crews are investigating reports of smoke in tunnels.

Stessel says, “On these lines, Metro is not going to be your best bet this morning.”

Metro says bus alternates for this incident are Rosslyn 5A, 38B, 3Y, Clarendon 38B and Arlington Cemetery 7Y.

There was also a separate problem at the Capitol Heights Metro station, which led to single-tracking between Addison Road and Stadium-Armory, affecting the Blue and Silver Lines, after an apparent problem with a track insulator.

By 9:10 a.m., service resumed between Capitol Heights and Addison Road, according to Prince George’s County Fire spokesman Mark Brady.
