WASHINGTON — A teenager was shot near an elementary school in the District on Friday afternoon.
Metropolitan Police say it happened just down the street from Stanton Elementary School in Southeast before 4 p.m.
The boy was conscious and breathing when police arrived and he was taken to the hospital. His injuries are non-life threatening.
Sources told NBC4 the shooting victim may be as young as 14 years old.
They are looking for a shooter described as a black man with short hair who stands about 5’10” to 5’11”. He was last seen wearing a navy blue jacket with a white stripe on the sleeves.
