WASHINGTON — U.S. Park Police announced Morrow Drive NW will be closed to vehicle traffic beginning on Monday, Feb. 5, until fall.
Park Police said the closure is to “better facilitate emergency response for U.S. Park Police during construction.”
“Rock Creek Parks is implementing this closure because active construction activities are adversely impacting access to and from the U.S. Park Police district three substation and their ability to respond to emergency calls,” Park Police said in a statement.
The road will remain open to pedestrians and bicycles.
Morrow Drive runs between Joyce Road NW and 16th Street NW. The Federal Highway Administration estimated the closure would affect 800 drivers during the morning commute.
Detour signs will posted to redirect drivers a few hundred yards up on 16th Street for alternative routes to Joyce Road NW.
