WASHINGTON —Vehicle traffic will be restricted on public roads around the U.S. Capitol, due to President Barack Obama’s 2016 State of the Union address.
According to D.C. police, the restrictions will begin at 7 p.m. and remain in effect for the duration of the speech. Vehicles displaying the appropriate event placard will be granted access through designated points.
The street closures include:
- 1st St. NE, from Columbus Circle to Constitution Ave. NE
- 1st St. NW/SW, from Louisiana Ave. NW to Washington Ave. SW
- 2nd St. NE/SE, from Constitution Ave. NE to C St. SE
- C St. NW/NE, from Louisiana Ave. NW to 2nd St. NE
- C St. SW/SE, from Washington Ave. SW to 2nd St. SE
- Constitution Ave. NW, from 1st St. NW to 2nd St. NW
- D St. NW/NE, from Louisiana Ave. NW to 2nd St. NE
- Delaware Ave. NE, from Columbus Circle to Constitution Ave. NE
- Delaware Ave. SW, from Washington Ave. SW to C St. SW
- East Capitol St. SE, from 1st St. SE to 2nd St. SE
- Independence Ave. SW, from Washington Ave. SW to 2nd St. SW
- Maryland Ave. NE, from 1st St. NE to 2nd St. NE
- Maryland Ave. SW, from 3rd St. SW to 1st St. SW
- New Jersey Ave. NW, from Louisiana Ave. NW to Constitution Ave. NW
- New Jersey Ave. SE, from Independence Ave. SE to D St. SE

Emergency no parking zones for the 2016 State of the Union address
To account for the necessary security measures during the 2016 State of the Union Address, the following emergency no parking zones will be established:
- 15th St., between Independence Ave. SW and New York Ave. NW (both sides of the street)
- Pennsylvania Ave. NW, between 15th St. and 3rd St. NW (both sides of the street)
- 3rd St. NW/SW, between Constitution Ave. NW and Independence Ave. SW (both sides of the street)
- Constitution Ave. NW, between 4th St. NW and 1st St. NW (both sides of the street)
- Independence Ave. SW, between 7th St. and 3rd St. SW (both sides of the street)
