Celebrate the official start of summer at the 27th Annual Giant BBQ Battle, June 22nd and 23rd on Pennsylvania Ave. in downtown DC. Join tens of thousands of BBQ and summer entertainment lovers to enjoy the sights, sounds and tastes of summer. The Barbecue Battle has been cooking up great food, music & fun on America’s Main Street for decades. While attendees enjoy all the festivities the event has raised millions of dollars in much-needed funds for area non-profits. This year’s BBQ Battle benefits the USO-Metro and the Capital Area Food Bank.
The event offers something for everyone with unique interactive exhibits like the Johnsonville “World’s Largest Grill,” Nathan’s Famous Hotdog Eating Contest, the Big Bite Tour and more family activities in the Giant Chill Zone where the Capitals, Wizards, Valor, Mystics and others offer games and activities for all ages.
The Giant BBQ Battle has received numerous awards and accolades over the years including being called one of “Five Can’t Miss Summer Festivals” by CNN, and a “Top 10 BBQ Festival” by Saveur Food Magazine.
