Bethesda gets a Lucky Strike

WASHINGTON — Lucky Strike Entertainment, the chain of boutique bowling allies whose original location has ties to “The Big Lebowski,” opens its second D.C.-area location this weekend in Bethesda.

The Bethesda Lucky Strike, a combination bowling alley, restaurant and nightclub, opens March 4 at Westfield Montgomery Mall.

Lucky Strike’s other D.C. area location is in Chinatown, at 701 7th Street NW.

The Montgomery Mall location will include 12 lanes and what it calls a “gastropub menu.” It will also be the first Lucky Strike location in the nation with an open kitchen. The Bethesda location also has brick oven pizzas.

The restaurant’s menu also highlights local craft beers, with 16 regional beers on tap, including Denizens, Jailbreak, Evolution, Union and Heavy Seas.

The first Lucky Strike opened in Hollywood in 2003 with the original decor and lanes from Hollywood Star Lanes, the movie set used in the Coen Brother’s “The Big Lebowski” movie.
