Monique Hayes is the current AM Broadcast News Director at WTOP. She joined Hubbard Broadcasting in the summer of 2021 as an Assignment Manager after more than 10 years as an Assignment Editor and Content Producer with WRC/NBC4 in Washington, D.C.
Monique has been making her mark on WTOP for two years, previously serving as WTOP’s Assignments Manager. Prior to WTOP, she was an assignment editor and content producer at NBC Washington. She has also worked at PBS NewsHour as an assignment editor.
Monique grew up in Arlington, Virginia. Her love for news began in high school while taking a television production class at Arlington’s Career Center.
Monique graduated from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana with a journalism degree. She has worked at several news organizations including PBS NewsHour, Westwood One Radio Networks and WJFK-FM.
Monique is a member of the Washington Association of Black Journalist and The Radio Television Digital News Association (RTNDA). She lives in the Washington, D.C., area with her husband and two kids.
