Amanda Iacone’s career has spanned print, web and radio. Before joining WTOP.com, Iacone covered state government and politics for various media outlets including the Associated Press, WSVA 550 AM, the Charlottesville Daily Progress and Virginia Public Radio. She also ran the website for a non-profit news organization focused on Virginia government and politics.
She was first introduced to web journalism as part of the 24-hour news team at The Journal Gazette in Fort Wayne, Ind., where she earned a deadline reporting award for her coverage of the murders of an immigrant family and the related kidnapping and murder of an 8-year-old girl. In addition to public safety, she covered the H1N1 epidemic and statewide property tax reforms that resulted in higher tax bills and fewer civil services.
