Late-night fire alarm at Caps hotel raises questions

WASHINGTON — Lack of shut-eye may be partially to blame for the Washington Capitals sleepy performance in Philadelphia, Sunday.

Around 1:30 a.m. Sunday someone pulled the fire alarm at the Philadelphia hotel where the team was staying, sending shirtless Caps spilling into the hotel hallway — an incident that was well-documented on social media.

Alex Ovechkin posted video on his Instagram.

Nice 1.35 am!!!!!

Teammate Marcus Johansson tweeted his version of the early-morning wake-up call.

Do all the Capitals sleep shirtless? And who pulled the fire alarm?

Capitals coach Barry Trotz jokingly blamed Flyers fans, according to Comcast SportsNet.

“Flyers fans, they love their hockey, a passionate group,” Trotz said, before the Caps 3-2 loss to the Flyers. “You gotta love that about the hockey frenzy in Philadelphia.”
