Man accidentally shoots self at firearms museum in Va.

WASHINGTON — An employee of the National Firearms Museum accidentally shot himself during a training session on Thursday.

Fairfax County police said in a statement that the incident happened about 3:30 p.m. Thursday at the museum on Waples Mill Road in Fairfax. They said the man was holstering a pistol during firearms training when it went off.

Police didn’t identify the man, but said he was 46 years old. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of what the police called a minor wound to the lower body.

No charges are expected, police said.
