WYOMISSING, Pa. (AP) — WYOMISSING, Pa. (AP) — PENN Entertainment, Inc. (PENN) on Thursday reported a loss of $2.3 million in its first quarter.

The Wyomissing, Pennsylvania-based company said it had a loss of 2 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 11 cents per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of six analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 5 cents per share.

The casino operator posted revenue of $1.78 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.75 billion.
