Now Hiring: ArcLight Cinemas Bethesda

Inside one of 16 theaters under construction at Westfield Montgomery mall's ArcLight CinemasThe upscale movie theater chain putting its first non-California location in Westfield Montgomery mall is looking for employees ahead of its opening.

ArcLight Cinemas, the Los Angeles-based chain that stakes its claim as “a movie theater for movie lovers,” hopes to open in October on the top level of Westfield’s Montgomery Dining Terrace expansion project.

At a media preview last month, ArcLight Executive Vice President Gretchen McCourt said the theater will offer a mix of mainstream Hollywood blockbusters, classic old movies and specialty films.

The seats will be pre-reserved — the new trend at upscale movie theaters including Landmark Theatres’ Bethesda Row and the iPic Theater destined for Pike & Rose in White Flint/North Bethesda.

McCourt said tickets at ArcLight are a bit higher than the average cineplex, but the movie experience comes with a commercial-free policy. Patrons won’t see commercials before their movies and ArcLight says it limits the number of movie trailers before each film.

The 16-screen theater is still under construction. The hunt for crew members, operations managers, line cooks and maintenance technicians is well underway.

The theater’s website lists about 85 openings, ranging from part-time hourly to managerial. The perks could include passes to see movies at the theater and discounts to LA Fitness.
