John Wes Townley to sit out after Pocono crash

LONG POND, Pa. (AP) — John Wes Townley will be held out of all racing this weekend following a hard crash Friday at Pocono Raceway.

Townley hit the wall hard during qualifying for the ARCA race and was taken to a local hospital for evaluation. He eventually returned to the track, but his Twitter feed said he would be held out of all competition for one week.

Townley was scheduled to run the ARCA race on Friday and NASCAR’s Truck Series race on Saturday.

Townley has competed in all 10 Truck Series races this year, with a season-best finish of fourth at Charlotte in May. He is 10th in the series standings.
