Famous Abbey Road to get a crossing guard?

WASHINGTON — The crossing of Abbey Road by the Beatles made famous by the band’s iconic album cover may be getting a crossing guard.

That’s because the the Westminster Council in England says a “lollipop lady” (or man)who directs traffic is needed to help manage the throngs of Beatles fans estimated in the thousands and thousands who obstruct incoming cars and put themselves at risk when recreating and emulating the steps of the fab four, The Daily Beast reports .

“thousands and thousands” of Beatles fans who obstruct incoming cars and put themselves at risk. “Obviously we don’t want to be spoilsports, we are really proud of our musical heritage,” said

Westminster City Councillor Lindsey Hall says council members don’t want to be a bunch of “spoilsports” because they are proud of the Beatles musical heritage and the street’s notoriety. However, there tends to be total chaos and resulting traffic from the multitude of fan photo ops.

“It would be good to have somebody there permanently,” she says.
