Strathmore Hosting Free Outdoor Summer Concert Series

Each Wednesday night through Aug. 20, Strathmore will host a free outdoor summer concert on the grounds of its historic mansion property in North Bethesda.

The Strathmore Free Outdoor Summer Concert Series started up in the last week of June and will continue at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. No tickets are required. The shows take place at the Gudelsky Concert Pavilion.

Wednesday’s show is the the Martha Redbone Roots Project. Performances for the rest of summer include the Chuck Brown All Star Go-Go Band (July 30), blues singer and guitarist Cathy Ponton King (Aug. 6) and the always popular Uke Fest (Aug. 13), the annual event during which Strathmore briefly set the Guiness World Record for Largest Ukulele Ensemble.

In case of bad weather, Strathmore typically announces any performance changes by 4 p.m. the day of the performance. A barbecue shack will be open to serve food and concert-goers are encouraged to park in the Grosvenor-Strathmore Metro station garage on Tuckerman Lane.
