Woman sets time, age records at San Diego marathon

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A 91-year-old woman has set time and age records at the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego marathon.

KNSD-TV (http://bit.ly/1oNJUrp ) says Harriette Thompson of North Carolina on Sunday became the oldest woman to compete in the race and it was her 15th time running it.

With a time of 7 hours, 7 minutes and 42 seconds, KNSD says she also broke the U.S. record for the fastest marathon run in the 90-94 age group.

Thompson is a cancer survivor and says she just underwent nine radiation treatments for cancer in her legs.

She says the best part of every race is going over the finish line.
