Girl, 5, killed after car rear-ended in Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Md. (AP) — State police say a 5-year-old girl has died after a two-car crash in Washington County.

Police say Bryer Hendricks was a passenger in a car that was rear-ended Monday night while stopped to make a left turn on Route 67 in Knoxville. She was flown to Children’s Hospital in Washington, where she died.

The driver of the car, Helen Hildebrand of Knoxville, was critically injured in the crash.

Police say the driver of the other vehicle did not notice the car that was stopped to make a turn. The driver has been identified as Karen See of Ranson, West Virginia. She and her infant child were treated at a hospital for minor injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, and police say they will consult with prosecutors before any charges are filed.
