WASHINGTON – Nationals catcher Wilson Ramos has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list and will start Wednesday’s series finale against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Ramos missed 32 games after fracturing a hamate in his left hand on Opening Day, March 31, against the New York Mets. The 26-year-old underwent successful surgery and appeared in two rehab games with Single-A Hagerstown and Double-A Harrisburg, where he went 2-for-7 with a home run, three RBIs and a walk.
Ramos’ return to the lineup comes two days before starting pitcher Doug Fister is expected to make his season debut Friday against the Oakland As. Fister has been sidelined since spring training with a lat strain.
“You leave spring training with a plan and part of that plan includes those guys so it’s going to be nice to have them both back,” said Nationals Manager Matt Williams.
