Md. girl pleads responsible in bullying case

LEONARDTOWN, Md. (AP) — A 17-year-old Maryland girl accused of assaulting a 16-year-old autistic boy pleaded responsible to two misdemeanor charges after her case was transferred from adult to juvenile court.

The girl on Thursday pleaded responsible, the juvenile equivalent of guilty, before a St. Mary’s County judge to second-degree assault and distribution of an obscene video.

The defendant was originally charged with false imprisonment, child pornography solicitation and first-degree assault stemming from abuses she and a 15-year-old girl inflicted on the boy, including holding him at knifepoint, forcing him to walk on a frozen lake and attempting to coerce him into sex with a dog.

The girl is expected to be sentenced next week to time an inpatient juvenile residential program.

The Associated Press does not name juvenile defendants.
