A flash flood watch for much of the region remains in effect for most of Wednesday with more rain in the forecast:

* PORTIONS OF MARYLAND…THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA AND VIRGINIA…INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS…IN MARYLAND…ANNE ARUNDEL…CALVERT…CARROLL…CHARLES…HARFORD…HOWARD…MONTGOMERY…NORTHERN BALTIMORE…PRINCE GEORGES…SOUTHERN BALTIMORE AND ST. MARYS. THE DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA. IN VIRGINIA…ARLINGTON/FALLS CHURCH/ALEXANDRIA…FAIRFAX…KING GEORGE…PRINCE WILLIAM/MANASSAS/MANASSAS PARK…SOUTHERN FAUQUIER…SPOTSYLVANIA AND STAFFORD.

* THROUGH LATE TONIGHT

* RAIN…HEAVY AT TIMES…WILL CONTINUE THROUGH TONIGHT. GENERALLY AROUND ONE INCH OF RAIN HAS FALLEN ACROSS THE AREA. AN ADDITIONAL 2 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN IS EXPECTED…WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS POSSIBLE.

* HEAVY AMOUNTS OF RAIN IN SHORT PERIODS OF TIME MAY CAUSE FLASH FLOODING OF CREEKS…STREAMS AND URBAN AREAS.

There are already reports of standing water on roads around the area, including the northbound Rockville Pike ramp to the outer loop of the Beltway.
