Pepco Repair Work Has Luxmanor Street Jammed Up

Pepco contractors line up on Luxmanor Road in North Bethesda on Thursday morning A stretch of Luxmanor Road was closed on Thursday because of Pepco utility work

Generators and heavy machinery have kept some folks awake at night in the Luxmanor neighborhood, as Pepco contractors work to fix an underground cable.

The work was a big topic on the neighborhood listserv on Wednesday and crews had part of Luxmanor Road closed on Thursday morning.

According to residents who have spoken to Pepco representatives, the work is to fix a broken underground main cable that runs through Luxmanor Road and nearby Old Georgetown Road. Crews must extract the oil that keeps the line cool — and use generators and construction lights to do it.

In a couple weeks, Pepco will return to remove the broken cable.

More from the listserv:

The PR by Pepco on this has been sadly lacking. The fact that we were not informed of all this beforehand and the fact that I have had to do all this legwork to find anything out is unprofessional of them to say the least.

They realize that yards are being torn up as well as the street. These things are suppose to get fixed in the end and they will probably replace the road—so more workers.

More from Pepco when we hear it.
