A resident on a local listserv reported seeing a fox on Sunday morning in a Bethesda neighborhood.
The sighting happened a little before 8 a.m. in the Wyngate area, near Old Georgetown Road and Greentree Road. A member of the neighborhood listserv reported the following:
Just saw a Red Fox on the 6000 block of Johnson Avenue. My husband saw it earlier this morning down on Bradmoor. Odd for it to be out during the day so watch your kitties.
So far, county officials have not confirmed the sighting. It’s not unusual for foxes to live in urban areas and, unless sick, they are rarely an issue.

It might be a good idea to keep small pets indoors, but foxes typically will flee from humans and aren’t interested in home gardens.
Foxes can present problems if they feel cornered, as was apparently the case when a fox bit a person and dogs in a Chevy Chase neighborhood. Residents who think they’ve spotted a sick or injured fox can call the Montgomery County Humane Society’s 24-hour number at 301-279-8000.
