The developer of a nine-story, 46-unit condo project on Battery Lane announced Thursday that construction will start later this year and hopefully be complete by 2016.
Reston-based Duball is developing Woodmont View, the luxury condo that will occupy a skinny piece of land at the northwest corner of Battery Lane and Woodmont Avenue.
Duball bought the spot for $6 million and has closed on a $26 million construction loan from EagleBank. It also has Planning Board approval.
The building will have 46 two-unit condos, nine of which will be moderately priced, averaging 1,500 square feet. There will be retail on the ground, expected to be a restaurant. The property has just 60 feet of frontage on Battery Lane and will back up to the Woodmont House, a transitional residence for patients and families at the Children’s Inn at NIH.
The existing four-story office building will be torn down. It’s now home to the Hope Floats Wellness Spa and is being used as a satellite office for Donohoe Construction, which is building the 8300 Wisconsin project across Woodmont Avenue.
Duball is developing a mixed-use apartment and hotel in Rockville Town Center and built the luxury Lionsgate condominiums on Woodmont Avenue.
