Cell Phone Coaching For Seniors Coming To Westfield

Wikipedia via TakuyaMurataFor many seniors, using a cell phone is like learning another language.

Next week, AT&T and a nonprofit that does educational programming for adults will offer one-on-one cell phone coaching sessions at Westfield Montgomery Mall.

The event is open to all adults age 50 or over and will match up AT&T executives and volunteers with those who need to figure out basic functions of a phone.

Volunteers will explain how to save phone numbers, set up in case of emergency contacts and other tools. The nonprofit, OASIS, provides adult education and social events so people over 50 “have opportunities to pursue vibrant, healthy, productive and meaningful lives.”

For many who didn’t grow up with cell phones, mastering it can be a difficult or even intimidating process.

The event will run from 1 p.m .to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 18 in the Macy’s Home Store in Westfield Montgomery Mall (7125 Democracy Blvd.). The Macy’s Home Store is on the second level.
