WASHINGTON – They didn’t beat their rival, the Dallas Cowboys, but the Washington Redskins are No. 3 on the list of the National Football League’s most valuable sports teams, according to Forbes.com.
Both the Cowboys and Redskins edged out recent Super Bowl champs, the Baltimore Ravens, on the list. The team comes in at No. 9.
The NFL also continues to be the most lucrative sports league in the world, according to Forbes. The NFL’s 32 teams are worth $1.17 billion on average, 5 percent more than last year.
The Dallas Cowboys top the NFL list of moneymakers with a team value of $2.3 billion and the 2012 revenue of the team was $539 million. The team’s operating income in 2012 was $250.7 million. The Washington Redskins have a team value of $1.7 billion and 2012 revenue of $381 million. The team’s 2012 operating income was $104.3 million.
The Ravens have a team value of $1.2 billion. The team’s revenue was $292 million and and its operating income was $48.3 million in 2012.
