The Montgomery County Police Department is set to undergo an examination and re-accreditation process and wants public input into the job its officers and staff are doing.
A police major from Florida and a deputy chief from Oklahoma will begin their examination of the department on Aug. 18. The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) process includes on-site assessments and a public commenting session on Monday, Aug. 19 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Public Safety Headquarters (100 Edison Park Dr., Gaithersburg).
Anyone who won’t be able to attend the meeting but would like to make a comment can call 240-773-5999 on Monday, Aug. 19 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to contact the CALEA representatives doing the examination.
