WASHINGTON – The non-prescription Buddy Holly glasses, ironic T-shirts, stocking hats in summer and colorful tight jeans just don’t do it for Americans.
Dare it be said, the flannel fad may be fading?
A survey from Public Policy Polling shows Americans are so over the hipster thing.
Just 16 percent of those in the poll say they have a favorable opinion of hipsters.
If official Washington isn’t shaken by this poll, the H Street Corridor will be, right down to its untied urban hiking boots.
The overall perception is somewhat colored by politics. Democrats are twice as likely as Republicans to think good things about hipsters.
But here’s an eye-catcher: more than a fourth of those surveyed, 27 percent, responded that hipsters should face a special tax for being annoying.

Pollsters surveyed 571 voters on May 6 and May 7. The poll has a margin of error of 4.1 percent. Below are the full poll results:
