WASHINGTON – If you are prone to headaches and migraines, the answer to the agonizing pain may be in your grocery cart.
Dr. Oz says that nutrients in different foods play a huge role in the body’s overall health.
He advises to especially watch out for an amino acid named tyramine, which is usually found in cheeses, cured meats, beer and red wine. These foods can trigger bad headaches in some people.
“(Tyramine-laden foods) change how your blood vessels open and close and that is one of the key reasons why people get headaches,” Dr. Oz explains.
“If you have migraines, you just happen to have very sensitive blood vessels that rapidly respond to chemicals that hit them.”
Dr. Oz suggests that those prone to headaches should keep a food diary to track the cause.
“Be a detective and find out which one is bothering you. It’s a very impactful way of improving your health.”
