Change in Virginia gun laws not likely

“It goes way beyond gun control,” he says.

He says the General Assembly is likely to review laws on restricting gun ownership for the mentally ill, as they did after the Virginia Tech Shootings in 2009. And, he says there are likely to be several proposals on more school security.

“We came out with a proposal recently to increase funding through a grant program so that middle schools and elementary schools have these school resource officers or deputies or police offices who are present in the schools.”

The General Assembly convenes on Jan. 9.
