Orioles lose to Yankees, 3-1

WASHINGTON – The Baltimore Orioles’ magical season has come to an end at the hands of their longtime rival New York Yankees. New York’s starting pitcher CC Sabathia pitched 9 innings allowing one run on four hits while striking out 9.

Raul Ibanez, Ichiro Suzuki had run scoring base hits while Curtis Granderson added a home run in the 7th. to lead the Yankees to a 3-1 win.

The Orioles’ best chance to win the game came in the 8th inning, after Lew Ford singled in Matt Wieters for the Orioles lone run. The birds then loaded the bases, but Nate McClouth struck out and J.J. Hardy grounded out to end the inning.

With the win, the Yankees will take on the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS.
