Cities where houses cost less than cars

WASHINGTON – In at least 10 cities across the nation, buying a home can be cheaper than buying a new car.

Many of the cities where homes are cheaper than cars are located in Michigan, once home to a booming auto industry.

24/7 Wall St. released its list of where the median price of a home can be less than the price of some cars, like a Cadillac Escalade or Chevy Suburban.

  2. Flint, Mich.: $31,950
  3. Gary, Ind.: $39,900
  4. Redford, Mich.: $40,000
  5. Warren, Mich.: $49,900
  6. Whiting, N.J.: $52,450
  7. Dearborn Heights, Mich.: $55,000
  8. Youngstown, Ohio: $57,550
  9. Holiday, Fla.: $59,900
  10. Port Richey, Fla. $59,900
