ARLINGTON, Va. – You’ve probably seen a funny road sign, but maybe didn’t have the time to stop and take a picture.
Now you have a chance to see what may be the ultimate photo collection of funny road signs.
Stand-up comedian Tom Snyders, known as “The Bicycling Comedian,” has been on the road for 25 years riding a bike from gig to gig.
Snyders has bicycled more than 162,000 miles to every state and nearly three dozen countries, while loaded down with 100 pounds of gear.
He even bicycled to Hawaii by riding a stationary bike on the deck of a cruise ship.
“I like getting off the beaten path. You get off on a bicycle on the back roads, you get to see the real country that way. You go zipping by everything on the interstate at 60 miles an hour, you don’t get to see anything,” he says.
Snyders tours the country entertaining people by sharing the various road signs he’s come across that haven’t been proofread, and signs that are deliberately funny.
“There was a big sign on the back of this pickup truck and it said, ‘Caution: Blind Man Driving.’ I was kind of curious about it, and then it turns out it was a guy who runs a store where he hangs blinds in windows for a living,” says Snyders.
Another sign he spotted: “Pig Farm. Sorry, Still No Pigs.”
Snyders says he’s seen this one near prisons in several places: “Hitchhikers May Be Escaping Inmates.”
