Founded in 2003, The Madison is a professional, civic and social organization of 100 young women in the DC area, representing a broad range of careers, who improve their communities through volunteerism. We went to the Tigerlily Foundation EmPOWER Cocktail and Recognition Reception at the Hyatt Regency Tysons. Tigerlily Foundation educates, empowers and supports young women around the world with breast cancer. We snapped founder Maimah Karmo, who started the foundation nine years ago, after being diagnosed when she was 32. She’s surrounded by her team, Carolyn Warrick, Ania Bassene and Carol Barbe.
Anna Norwood, Shay Sharpe, Charelle Barnes, Holly Bertone, Kisa Ward and Raquel Witherspoon were honored with the Inspire, Courage, Volunteer, Hope, KM Warrior and Transformation awards. They all gave moving stories of being breast cancer survivors.

Last night we headed to the Kennedy Center Concert Hall for the Choral Arts Society to hear the world premiere of Wadsworth: Battle Flags and Brahms’ Ein Deutsches Requiem. Here, the Choral Arts Chorus and guest baritone Trevor Scheunemann led by conductor Scott Tucker.
The performance had special significance as it was dedicated to Choral Arts beloved conductor, founder and Artistic Director Emeritus Norman Scribner, who passed away in March. Here, members of the Chorus.
