Md. entrepeneur’s baby mats an instant hit

WASHINGTON – Parents looking to give their baby a boost are buying a special play mat developed by a Maryland physical therapist.

Robin Tacchetti, of Rockville, came up with the “Biddy Belly” to help infants develop their rolling and crawling muscles while laying on their tummies. The contoured mat is made for newborns to babies up to 8 months old.

Tacchetti’s invention is a roll-away success. She’s already sold her first 500 Bellies online, most of them through Amazon.com, according to the Washington Business Journal.

Tacchetti got an investor in less than 90 seconds after pitching her invention on Anderson Cooper’s show. Panelist Daymond John offered $100,000 for a 50 percent share in the company.
