Gas prices jump 8 cents a gallon in week

WASHINGTON – Gas prices jumped again in the past week. The latest WTOP ” Pain in the Gas” survey shows the average price of a gallon of regular went up 8 cents to $3.78 over the past week.

Mid-grade is up by 5 cents to $3.92 a gallon. Premium saw a 10-cent hike, to $4.09. Diesel is up 5 cents to $4.12 a gallon.

The average for regular fuel this week is cheapest in Virginia, where regular is $3.70. That compares to $3.75 in Maryland and $3.89 in the District.

One year ago, WTOP’s gas survey showed the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded was $3.46 a gallon. Mid-grade was $3.62 a gallon, while premium was $3.75 a gallon and diesel $3.77.
